Today I'm thinking about Happiness
Some of you will have heard me say this before.....it's a favourite mantra of mine
Success is not the way to happiness....
Happiness is the way to success!
So, question is then....
How do we get happy!?
It's not something we pursue, it's not something that is achieved through things outside of us
It's within us, it's a birth right, it's something we can choose to activate
There are many studies, lots of research, plenty of books and podcasts etc
There's a free podcast on Audible that I've listened to recently and I'd recommend it - it's called 'Get Happy'
There's no single way to happiness but studies consistently show that being kind to and helping others is a common component
We are social beings, we thrive off each others positive emotions, just as we suffer their negative ones
You'll often hear about acts of kindness
Acts of kindness
Especially the random kind,
People seem to like encouraging the concept of random acts of kindness
but random is counter-intuitive
Random makes people uneasy, suspicious, dare I say it, cynical.
So, we don't want random, we want intentional
We're aiming acts of kindness that are understood and valued
You feel good and they feel good cos they know why you're doing it
So, if you would like to participate, I encourage you to do one deliberate act of kindness today
Send one person a message or email, telling them you appreciate them and why or provide a business contact with a testimonial
It doesn't have to be long, just a couple of sentences to say that you appreciate them, that you are grateful for them in your life and why you feel that way.
You're not asking for a reply, you're not asking for them to reciprocate - although you may very well find that they do!
The value in it for you is the feeling it give you!
It will set you up for the day with an attitude of gratitude and a feeling of happiness.
